About me
Since 2020 part of Let it Bleed Collective in Berlin
Blanca Núñez Pozuelo (born 1981 in Jerez de la Frontera) is a spanish self-taught artist who lives and works in Berlin. Blanca is a graduate doctor from the Universidad de Navarra. Being always passionate about art, she followed in parallel her practice painting and drawing until 2019 when she decided to devote herself entirely to her artistic work.
Her pictures are characterized by strong colors and intricate patterns without losing a fresh and naive touch.
Inspired by the pop culture of her childhood, the books and illustrations hanging at her family's summer house, her Andalusian roots and the tenacious women that surround her, she paints a vivid portrait of her heroes and inner worlds.
Other influences include artists such as Henry Matisse, Sonya Delaunay, Andy Dixon, Maria Herreros, David Hockney or Ernst Ludwig Kirchner.
Blanca works on different media such as acrylic on canvas, oil pastels or digital drawing, reusing and upcycling the materials that she finds along the streets of Berlin.

I am strongly influenced by the flat perspective and radical colors of the 20th century french movement of Fauvism.
For me painting is mostly an act of joy and freedom, in which I don't care about the rules of anatomy or physics but about what I feel and how the painting evolves. In that way I also consider myself a “wild beast”.
During the Lockdown I started a series based on everyday objects that are part of my life in this exciting place that is Berlin.
